I'm so old I remember the days of open lands where kids could roam and hunt and fish and no one feared a law suit.

I also remember Them, and the Day the Earth Stood Still

ah, the good old days of black and white, and most creatures were people in some scary (or not) costume.

I loved that type of movie but I never made it through Creature from the Black Lagoon without closing my eyes during that one scene.

Thanks for reminding me! I remember that time, too! Our son was a local rock star and I helped with the band's "on-stage" appearances and "costume" changes. Vests that actually matched their pants were favorites back in the 60's-70's. In this day and age, band members dress like bums.

I also remember taking our (then) 15 year old son to see the Allman Bros. in Concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, Maryland (mid 1970's) under the pretense of, doing my motherly duty (good excuse). Great concert, loud and lively, and we camped out on a blanket on the crowded ground. When one of their songs abruptly stopped, I was in the middle of shouting to my son "What's that strange smell" ???? I received some very stern looks from those sitting around us. Just as bad was my later question to my son "Which one is Duane" (who died in a motorcycle accident a few years before.
Lesson #1 in being a mother of a teenager. Don't ask questions.
