OK, first, I couldn't decide if this should be in Hobbies, Non-Romantic Relationships, Sports, or Entertainment. So if this thread shouldn't be here, I don't care if it's moved. Or removed, if the subject matter is too much.

Anyway, I was talking with my mom the other day and she was telling me about an obscene phone call she got. She hung up on the guy, but being my mom, she had to get the last word in. "Don't let me stop you!" she told him.

I have the same perverted humor. I get a call and someone is breathing on the other end. I let him breathe for a minute, then I breathe back at him. Then I tell him, "OK, it's your turn again now." I'd bet that's the first time an obscene phone caller hung up first.

Anyhoo, without being explicit, do you bait obscene phone callers? Do you bait scammers? Please let us know your funniest stories.

I simply tell them I can't hear them, "could you speak a little louder. That didn’t help – try again! The more then yell the more I continue to ask them to speak up please." LOL

Thankfully my wife and I don't get any crazy calls, or unwanted sales calls. We were smart to get rid of our land line and, with Caller ID on our cells, if we don't know the number, we don't answer. If it's important, they'll leave a voice mail.

But, rodentraiser, a friend of mine got himself in BIG trouble with what he did with a heavy breathing caller. He said he held up the phone and said,"Hey, Honey, your mother's on the phone!" "Honey" wasn't too happy with him for a few days after she picked up the phone and heard what was on the other end. lol

I don't recall ever receiving an obscene phone call. But I like your idea of turning the tables on them, OP.

The last prank call I got was from some kid that was trying not to laugh while trying to prank me. He failed at that and began laughing before he could say whatever it was he was trying to say. I kept asking him to repeat what he was trying to say. he finally hung up.

One evening I accidentally answered a call from a telemarketer, of course he mispronounced my last name. I told him if he would pronounce it correctly I’d talk to him. Of course he couldn’t pronounce it correctly. After several attempts he finally said to me “you have a good evening” and then hung up.

I love messing with scammers. I contacted one of those I'll buy your house people and he came out and looked at the house. I dangled it like a carrot in front of a jackass. He bit. I encouraged him and he called back to try to get us together to "close the deal." I asked him what his offer was and he said that he didn't want to talk about it over the phone. I told him that I like bottom lines and that I despise games. If he's interested and we agree on a price that I would have my attorney draw up the contract. He argued about meeting in person and I said. "We're done." and I hung up on him. He had to come a long way to see the house and I totally wasted his time. These are devious people and I wish more people would do the same to them. I will be listing the property on Sunday with a realtor recommended by a friend that used to be a realtor in the area. At least she will make some money too.

I was at a friends house when I was in my 20's and she got an obscene phone call and handed me the phone. OMG I can't tell you the things that came out of my mouth. The caller wound up hanging up on me. It was very funny.

I get hang up calls from scamming the few scammers we get. If I have the time I'll lead them on for a long time then laugh when they get frustrated.
