So now that summer is upon us it is time to break out the "summer stuff"
Shorts and sandals come out of hiding, the lawn mower is once again brought to the front of the garage
There is one more thing that really says summer to me and I think will make for a great

Todays question :

Lets talk BBQ Grilling !!!!!!!

What do you use gas or charcoal ?

What food do you grill the most ?

Is there one item that make you queen /king of the grill ?

and last but not least

Who does the grilling at your house ?

I had to add another

Any funny grilling stories ?????

Today in history:
June 17,1862 W.H. Fancher and C.M. French patented an unusual plow/gun combination.
June 17,1872 George M. Hoover arrived in Dodge City. He was the second settler there, and opened the first business, a saloon of course. Whiskey was 25 cents.
June 17,1885 - The Statue of Liberty arrives in New York Harbor.
On July 17, 1955 Walt Disney opened the doors to Disneyland and turned his cartoon world into a three-dimensional experience.

Word of the day
:
verdure \VUR-jur\, noun:
Green; greenness; freshness of vegetation; as, the verdure of the meadows in June.

Today is:
National Eat All Your Veggies Day (lol I warned you )
it is also
National Apple Strudel Day
and
National Mud Pack Day

What do you use gas or charcoal?

Charcoal - often with scented wood chips!

What food do you grill the most?

I have a special London Broil that I grill most often, but any meat is welcome on my grill - along with vegetables and fruits and potatoes. However, like Al Bundy, no fish shall ever touch my grill.

Is there one item that make you queen /king of the grill?

Yes. I have a special, personally made dry rub that I use on many items I grill. No, I'm not sharing the recipe but if you're ever in the neighborhood, come taste the results!

Who does the grilling at your house?

Me. I am the grillmaster of these here premises.

We use Gas in our grill. I have used charcoal in the past, and I would throw a bit of hickory or Black jack oak in the coals to get extra flavor, but you can do this just as easy with the gas grill and have a lot less cleanup.

Steaks, Fish, vegetables, hot dogs, and hamburgers are a good start. My cousin will do a stuffed flounder which is the food of the gods I think. I like salmon and tuna steaks as well as the rib eye, and NY strip.

I think my cousin may have the crown for the stuffed flounder. He has it down to an art and will cook one every Christmas for the family.
In the history of South Eastern NC it was said the Christmas flounder was used at because turkey and other meats cost too much. It was the cheap way to celebrate. I think today that has reversed. I see a large flounder stuffed with crab meat, smothered in butter and spices as anything but a budget control item.

In our house I do the outside grilling. It seems to be a male thing.

Charcoal, hate gas because I am allergic to it.

What food do you grill the most ?
Hamburgers and Hot Dogs (We are going to a family barbecue this coming Saturday.)

Is there one item that make you queen /king of the grill ?
I haven't done it lately, but I do a mean fish grill in foil with orange and butter sauce.

and last but not least

Who does the grilling at your house ?
Usually me, but nobody lately. Our grill is lost back in the garage. I use the oven now for mesquite chicken already done from Sam's club and boneless, skinless barbecued chicken and Sonny's barbecue sauce.

I have both gas and charcoal grills. I like steak done on charcoal. Almost anything else can be done on gas

I do a lot of chicken & pork since my wife cannot eat beef.

Unlike Al Bundy fish is always done on the grill. Let the neighbors smell it not my guests.

Hold the veggies, they're too verdure. Pass the strudel.

I do most of the grilling. My younger son will take my place if I'm feeling lazy. He makes a pizza on the charcoal gill that is very good.

Default Get out of my kitchen, and go cook in the yard. . .

Am I ever impressed, Miss Withakay! (MM reminded me you are Mrs. WaK, but here in the South, everyone can be 'Miss'. I mean NO disrespect.)

If I had to grill my meals, I would probably starve. Grills scare me. Grills have it out for me. I have yet to meet a Grill I liked. Grills are mean and nasty.

*sigh*

My husband does the grilling, and he cooks a great steak, and chicken, and salmon steaks. We like the stuff grilled plain, for the most part, but I have marinated items in the past.

Years ago, I was using a little hibachi and had been fairly successful with it, but am long since out of practice. My favorite grilling has to be cooking a pig all day, and having pulled pork with a vinegar-based sauce, some corn grilled in the husks, cole slaw, and melons. Don't grill the melons.

See, I told you I know nothing about grilling, and grills don't like me.

Hey y'all wanna share London Broil recipes with me? Pretty please????

What do you use gas or charcoal ?
Gas

What food do you grill the most ?
Buffalo burgers, steaks, seafood and chicken

Is there one item that make you queen /king of the grill ?

My gorgonzola buffalo burgers are not bad at all. I do fun things with marinade, lemons, herbs and foil too.

and last but not least

Who does the grilling at your house

It's kind of a team effort. I always prepare the stuff, but husband grills it. Sometimes I go out there and turn things over, but really I like him to do the grilling thing while I prepare the rest of the meal.

The spouse does the grilling, on a gas grill, in the verdure of our backyard (because we haven't installed a patio yet). He fancies himself quite the chef as long as he's outdoors. The especialite du maison is ... burgers. *sigh* I mean, I love burgers, but every night?
