Good morning peevers.

Doing anything today?

Happy Independence Day.

As some of you may know, I work in a Stately Home and it is wonderful and great fun.

Many monarchs have stayed there over the centuries from Edward VI in Tudor times.

In 1778 King George III stayed there for two nights (you get a better nightly rate that way ).

He was on his way to the coast to see off troops who were on their way to a skirmish across the Atlantic.

The Countess of the House did not think that the State bed they had was good enough for the King.

My peeve today centres around whether people are listening or not. I just got the feeling that one group I was taking round were not really paying attention.

I told them the true story about that bed and that the Countess got a better bed from another nearby very grand house.

However what I said to this group was that she phoned around to get a better bed.

No-one said a thing.

So my dear peevers, the POTD is;

People who don't properly listen to what you are saying.

LOL! Seeing those Biplanes reminded me of this great scene in one of my favorite movies. "I'm sorry son.......they got us!"

Thanks! I'm hoping to see if I can get a camera to get those aerial shots. You did a great job.

Fantastic air show pictures, Jezer! I loved your story about "phoning around" for a new bed and "a skirmish across the Atlantic." I have to admit that I'm usually the one who isn't listening. I have a short attention span and my mind tends to wander. It's one of my many shortcomings.

Once I get two hearing aids I'll be a better listener again. Current wife relays in private what was said.

Here's a DC-3 in civilian terms. I forget it's military designation.

That's my problem, too. I have hearing loss plus tinnitus, and I should get hearing aids sooner rather than later. I often mishear what people say, sometimes in amusing ways. " A white duck? What white duck? Oh ... you said a ride in a truck!"
