Hello everyone! I have returned. Hope you all survived without me! I want to give a big thanks to satx56 for being my substitute while I was gone... he did a fantastic job! Thanks my friend!

Now while I was away, as many of you might know, another earthquake occurred... this time in Turkey. This comes just a little over a week after an earthquake struck Chile, and at least a month since the tragic earthquake in Haiti. With all of this occurring, I felt that these two facts would be interesting for today's "Did you know...?".

Did you know... Each year, about 500,000 detectable earthquakes occur in the world? About 100,000 of those can be felt and about 100 of them cause damage.

Also, Did you know... In the United States, Florida and North Dakota have the fewest earthquakes?

I'll take the hurricanes over the earthquakes. I know of one crack in one building in FL from an earthquake.

Florida has had several quakes and the west coast has the largest amount.
If you're interested in earthquake activity in your state or worldwide then check out this US Geological site:
U.S. Geological Survey Earthquake Hazards Program
These maps and information are quite interesting and very informative.
