Did you know... In West Virginia, you can legally run over an animal & take it home to eat?

The 19th annual roadkill cook off is this September.

Sounds like Death Race 2000 but with animals.

Reminds me of a story when I first moved to rural TN. Hubby and I were driving down the main highway. We saw a Police car and the officer was dragging a deer off the road. He picked the head of the deer up, took his gun out, and shot it right on the side of the road. Welcome to TN
I know it was the humane thing to do if the deer was dying. I bet that officer had a freezer full of meat.

I also know a lot of locals who will pick up any road kill to feed to their animals.

Sounds like West Virginia has an “open” season all year long on any type of game, on or off the road.

I’ve never yet seen the head of a deer or elk stuffed and mounted on a wall
Spoiler
that had tire tracks on it.

I suspect a few restaurants in my area celebrate that holiday too. However that is good to know it's legal somewhere.

Huh...no wonder all the folks I have seen and came in contact with over the last couple weeks always comment on how hungry they are.....Heck they're under a couple feet of snow here and you can't see a thing on the road
