No, actually the term young adult applies to actual adults between the ages of 18 & 40.

And given my experiences working with them at the restaurant and the increasing amounts of boomerang kids, and kids being less and less prepared for college i don't think thats a good thing. And yes my kids are young but i even treat them as young adults, and find it works better on all levels.
No, an 11 year old is NOT referred to as a "young adult." Young adult is the term given to people between the ages of 18 and 21, 18 being the age you can leave home and 21 traditionally being celebrated as the age when you become a full adult. That's why 21st birthdays are a big deal. Even in countries where you can drink at 18 or younger. Those countries in Europe and the rest of the world.

According to this, and most accepted psychological age definitions, 13-18 is NOT young adulthood, it's adolescence.

The chart at the bottom has young adults under adults.

If you're looking for an excuse not to give out candy to teens, just say it's against your principles. This "young adult" stuff is getting silly.

In europe they treat what most would call "kids" here as young adults and in terms of maturity they blow American kids away.

She trick or treated until she was a college freshman? No offense to your sister but that's a bit much.

Well then that isn't good proof now is it? LOL

My previous points stand that it's pretty much accepted in the psychological field that young adult is 18-40.

If young adulthood began at eleven (!!!) then eleven year olds would be able to make adult decisions. They cannot.
