Is it wrong for two men with children under age two that just met at a store to be having a friendly conversation about their kids growing up, milestones etc .. then one of them asks the other if his wife is still breastfeeding and how long she did? The man that asked the question has a wife that still breastfeeds at 11 months.
Men might be better to answer this question.
I don't think there is anything wrong with this.. what do you think?
Hmmmm.... if it were 2 women talking, there wouldn't be a problem but with 2 men -- especially 2 men that just met? I know it's a double-standard, but I would find it very strange (even though it's probably just an innocent question)

It's weird. I don't think anyone's ever asked my husband about my breastfeeding habits. Why should they care.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe the man who asked the question is wondering if his wife should still be breastfeeding and wanted to compare notes with his friend.
Another exception would be if both men were really into the attachment parenting thing and it just came up as an attachment parenting topic.
Perfectly OK.
Especially when the first kid comes along, guys know nothing and so chatting to another guy who already has a kid is great.
Guys don't need to know each other for 10 years before they ask a question. Its just a question.
I do not think there is anything wrong with it. Many parents had allergies and asthma as kids and have kids who don't have these health issues. Breastfeeding has been shown to possibly have several health benifits on children. Asking questions that could be healthy for your child is not strange.
Well, presumably, since the question posed was if the wife was "still" breastfeeding at 11 mo, no one was asking about the health benefits of breastfeeding.
If no one was bothered by the question, why ask us?
