There has been a huge amount of mothers/step mothers and fathers killing their kids. Before it was the mom's and mental illness seemed to play a role sometimes but now the whole family is getting in on the act.

Why kill and torture YOUR OWN BABIES? Why not give the child to social services? I see the mothers are not around for the most part, and so they just like the father as much as he doesn't want the kids, take them and never follow up?
Part of me thinks that this is another reason why abortion really must stay legal. Because we will have many more child deaths if you start MAKING people have kids who don't want them. This is just the bunch who WANTED the kids and then changed their minds obviously. These idiots should have aborted or given the kids to family members or Social Services.

The only way to prevent this is if NEIGHBORS and family members keep in touch and stay involved.

Do you really think the problem is any worse now than in the past? Or could it be that the ratings-conscious media might just be exploiting these stories to titillate folks like you?

Think about it.

Absolutely. It has to do with 24/7 news coverage, the internet, and over 100 cable channels. Crime stories that were once considered local are now available nationally so we read more about it. I cannot unequivocally say there hasn't been an increase, but sadly, at least in the 20th century, there's always been a subculture of addicts/mentally ill that have abused their children to death.
