Depends on where you live, live in/out, and whether the nanny drives. I would estimate 750 per week if you wanted quality child care, but I would not leave a nanny with a toddler and infant all day.

First, I answered the question - then I commented based upon my experience with nannies both live in and live out. So?

just that I've seen many threads go OT and end up being working moms vs SHAM's. If there is some personal experience with nannies, sharing it might be helpful.

Aye - the SAHM v. Working issue! No, as someone who has used both daycare and nannies, when I had a 3 1/2 year old and infant - I sent one to preschool and left the other with the nanny. I think even the best paid nannies would be challenged with a toddler and infant. And, if OP doesnt even have an idea of the going rate, Im not certain he/she has really thought through childcare options.

That won't work. The OP isn't looking for a live-in nanny.

The costs would vary depending on area. Our nanny taught at the daycare our now 5 year old went too, and when we had our twin boys she would stop by and help us out a lot. She and my wife had a good friendship and she was unhappy with her current job, so we hired her. Doing the nanny taxes can be a pain...but we feel 100 percent comfortable with her and the twins are now almost 2 years old. She has art, drawing time, reading time, and takes them to free gym time at gymnastics and to library storytime. She also watches our 5 yr old boy when he is home from school through 5 pm or on school days off.

We pay her 325/wk total, plus pay her monthly rent (425) at her apartment and her phone bill and misc expenses. So total pay would likely be close to 450/wk. This is in Grand Forks-East Grand Forks ND/MN. Yes this is less than she made at daycare, but all we could afford.
