The big question here would be: "How old are your kids?"

What I spent when my kids were little and ate 2 teaspoons worth of food is nothing to what I spend now feeding teenagers .

Family of six and a golden retriever/poodle mix- I spend about $1000 per month for food, dog food, bathroom supplies, cleaning supplies and other household items. Besides milk, orange juice at breakfast and juice boxes for school lunches, we try to only drink water at home...stopped buying juice and soda about a year ago and I think I save about $30 per week without. Though sometimes I have to splurge and buy a pack of Ocean Spray's diet sparkling cranberry juice. Very yummy.

Occasionally I use coupons but the I always seem to get coupons for products such as Doritos, Poptarts, Hamburger Helper, sugary cereals etc., which isn't really stuff I buy anyway, so my couponing is pretty much limited to non-food groceries such as toilet paper and toothpaste.
