But like our government -- it's the government actually rewarding irresponsible behavior and paying these women to breed. The women aren't having to support these families themselves, they are rewarded nicely and never need to work for a living, just keep having kids they cannot afford.

Interesting they're placing all the blame on WOMEN and telling them to stop having children. They've told the women to stop having babies with different, abusive men.

Which begs the question, is anyone telling MEN to stop bed hopping and becoming baby daddies with various women? Why aren't the men being held responsible for the children they help create? Maybe someone needs to tell the English government how babies are made.

Hmm.. Maybe it's a carryover from Victorian times when women were urged to think of having sex and babies as a patriotic thing to do. You know the whole "Lie back and think of England" thing.

It goes without saying that both men and women should be responsible. It doesn't take being a certain gender to realize that if you're burdened with tons of kids already, you shouldn't make any more. In fact, I would go even further to argue that if you are burdened with anything significant period, you shouldn't have ANY child.

While people of all sorts and genders should take responsibility, the reality is that most of the times children end up in mother's lap - especially if the two reproducing parties are not in any significant relationship. In that case, you put the PC aside, and you simply refuse to have sex with the insignificant guy; or you have sex with him and use protection.
And if you're married and the family is not doing well financially or in other ways, you should have two brains in the game that can decide "NO" for a next child.

I agree with DewDropInn....and untill the gov starts riding the ***** of the "delinquent" fathers of these children...they should leave these women alone...they've already got enough to deal with...maybe they really thought that the "father" would help with the raising of the children....but it seems a lot of the time this doesn't happen...and society seems more willing to turn a blind eye to these dead beats, and instead harass the women...guess that's easier, as it's pretty hard for her to "hide" or disappear from the childrens lives....like sooo many @#$@%$# men do.

They really need to get the impregnators to pay for the support of these children. It does take two to tango, the sperm donors are out there impregnating girl after girl, proud as punch. Let them start paying and things would change. And offer them some free vasectomies.

They did that with some feral cats here, they found it would be cheaper to sterilize but not castrate the toms and release them back to their neighborhoods and have them keep mating with the females and competing for mating rights over them, but have them shooting blanks instead.

Or the government could just tell all the men to stop having sex. Pregnancy rates will plummet if they all cooperate.

Millions of subjects lining up in London saying, "Right-o Guv'nor. I want to do my part. Where's my Pledge For Purity form to sign?"

I need to spread rep around - but I agree with everything Dew Drop Inn said. I am sick of women getting all the blame for everything, and I'd bet that in most cases, the women, impoverished as they may be, are doing far more for their children than the men are.

You have to consider the source when you read stuff like this. The Telegraph is a politically Conservative (that's with a capital C, as in the actual political party in the UK) newspaper. They take the conservative line in all socio-economic and political stories. If they can't spin it to be conservative, then either it has no political spin at all, or it doesn't get published.

Until there's a really effective form of temporary birth control for men, it needs to be a women's issue. I don't think we can really expect the average deadbeat baby-daddy kind of guy to turn down sex with any willing woman or to use condoms...so the women need to quit having baby after baby with different guys. So they either need to stop having casual sex or they need birth control. The women are the ones who end up stuck with the child, so they need to protect themselves.

I know a guy who has sex with a different girl every weekend. He never uses condoms because they don't feel good. Half the time he's so drunk when he has sex that he doesn't even remember all the women, or where he left his car. If the girls ever try to get in touch with him after their weekend of fun, he tells them he's going to call the police because they're harassing him. The only way he's ever going to stop is if he is castrated or becomes impotent. Unfortunately for the women, he's fairly good-looking, has a nice car and a decent job. He does a good job of acting like they're special until he gets some. He lives in a big enough city that there are enough women to hook up with that don't know him or his reputation. That's the kind of guy who gets these women pregnant, the kind of guy who just keeps on going and half the time they don't even know his last name or where to find him. Unfortunately, he makes it seem like a wild romance until it's consummated, so they think they have a relationship. There are too many guys like that around, that's why women need to learn to be careful. And if the message is just directed at women, fine. Guys like that are too irresponsible to care.
