I'm shocked that anyone would ask this question. There is no such thing as Boy Toys and Girl Toys. And to think so limits a lot of fun and creativity for both sexes.

Son had his own Little Tykes kitchen and fake food when he was 3.

Daughters played with lego, lincoln logs, matchbook cars, etc their whole lives. Every christmas wish list has included at least 1 lego set. They are almost 12 years old and they still enjoy playing with them. Two summers in a row they have attended Lego Engineering Camp and love it. I never bought any of those silly pink sets and they said they didn't want them. We have a huge bin of legos and it delights me no end to hear that familiar sound of them digging in the lego bin for hours. We have kept all the instructions that go with the sets but both like to play free style with them.

She'll probably end up transgendered if you let her keep playing them.

OK, that's a bad joke. Seriously, what could possibly be wrong with a girl playing with Legos? I don't get it

Yes, girls can play with legos.

Also, we need more females in the STEM fields. Since you mentioned math and engineering in the original post, it made me think about that. Don't make your daughter feel that she should only be doing traditional girl things.

Legos are most definitely a gender-neutral kind of toy. They're not just for future mathematicians/scientists/engineers either.
+1

Agreed. It's amazing to me how unaware people can be of their own selves. He's adhering to gender roles and doesn't even know it. I now have a better understanding of the terms unintentional parenting.

Anyhow, OP, you've received enough responses to answer your question. I hope it helps you.

Legos are about creativity, conceptualizing and building. Great skills for ANY child to have.
You'd think it's a joke, in 2013!

of course she can play with legos! I've never heard that legos are only for boys. If your worried about it, they do make pink legos and castle sets with horses and things like that. Both my son and daughter (6 and 8 years old) LOVE legos.

I'm sure she can she has hands right? May she play with them? I'd say that's up to you as long as she doesn't try to eat them, at 3 they are a choking risk, then I say yes.

No. Get her a baby doll. Girls are supposed to learn how to take care of kids.

Only boys are smart enough to play with Legos.

(bah ha ha ha!).....

I know a little boy who plays with dolls and has a pink barbie jeep. I think if his parents are secure enough to let him play with whatever toys he likes you can let your daughter play with Legos. She can play with Gi Joes and play baseball too. It won't hurt her.
