What do you think about the parents/' response to the situation presented in these scenarios?

1. Richard, 40, and Dennette, 42, are the proud parents of only-child Augustine, 8. Augustine has always been a hot-tempered child. While at a major electronics retailer, the parents refuse to buy him a new tablet, citing his last temper tantrum, he reacts in a violent fashion, smashing the tablet he wants against the floor, grabbing another one and throwing it at his mom, and running away. Richard catches him in an aisle and gives him four firm swats to the buttocks with his hand. This is the first time either of the couple has punished Augustine corporally.

2. Leonardo, 33, is ready to go back into the dating game after his wife of 13 years, Anna, died two years ago. He met a local girl, Alejandra, on his "guy's trip" to Puerto Vallarta last winter, and has stayed in contact with her since. He now wants to bring her to the USA and eventually marry her. He is met with firm opposition from his two sons, Alexander, 16, and Roberto, 13, because Alejandra is only 19 years old. He decides to seek to have Alejandra come over.

3. Bobby, 26, has recently been demoted and had his hours cut to part-time, but his schedule is still so-arranged that he is away from the home for long periods of time. Kelsey, 27, has traditionally stayed home with her three young children, the oldest in Kindergarten, cooking nutritious meals for them and providing them with intellectual stimulation. The family's income is at a low enough level that they qualify for welfare. Should they accept it, or would it be more praiseworthy for Kelsey to get a job of her own, and bring them to a state-run daycare facility?

To be honest, it sounds as though you want answers for an advice column. As you've said before, all of your scenarios are hypothetical.

I always feel like we're doing your homework for you.

1.Don't they usually have the tablets tied down at the store, so someone doesn't just walk off with it?

2.Whenever you have an example of someone who had kids as a teenager, they always have Hispanic names. Stereotype much?

3.The dad needs to get a different job.

So, before I even give my $0.02, could you please tell us for the hundredth time what these scenarios are for? I know you've posted numerous in the past as well.

Is it for some kind of college assignment? Advice column? Or do you make them up for fun?

1. It's about time that the parents start disciplining their child but they should also have to pay for the merchandise their brat destroyed.

2. Kids don't get to decide who the parent marries but Leonardo really should put his kids first, they'll both be grown up and can leave home in 5 years and the young babe can wait.

3. Since the dad only works part time, the mother can easily get a job, they can work different shifts or one work weekdays, one work weekends. People should support their kids themselves.

Given the poster's name, I think these scenarios describe potential participants in some kind of daytime TV talk show, and they are using the forum to get a preview of potential audience reaction.

Aren't you up way past your bedtime?
Do your own term paper/homework/thesis, etc.
