Most ultrasounds are routine, but occasionally they reveal major issues, which I know from personal experience. Someone should be with her for support. If Dad is squeamish, he can sit in the waiting room.

You are right, its important to have support but given that her dad needs to be pretty much conned into going with her, i doubt how much of a support he is going to be.

Her BF should go with her.

Maybe "con" was just a poor word choice. People really do get into single words here on CD. Maybe Ivory meant "convince" him.

Agreed. My impression from the OP's posting history is that Dad has a decent relationship with DD1. Let's not read too much into the wording.

OK, I have to ask why people seriously think those sonograms pictures are cute. Come on. It looks like a picture of a broccoli casserole in the oven with the oven light on, taken through the over door.

It's not that they're cute per se, it's that they're proof of something that is at this point very mysterious and unreal. I have all of the prenatal images that were taken of my children. And I'm not particularly sentimental!

Ivory, a year or two back you had a thread about your husband agreeing to buy DD1 a puppy against your wishes. How did she handle that responsibility?

Okay, let Dad sit in the waiting room. No need for him to be there for the actual procedure. But still - just knowing he's there - literally - for her, might move DD into a more appreciative frame of mind, particularly if he can share with her some stories from when she herself was on the way.

At this point, I think anything that can enhance closeness, improved relationships and clearer communication in Ivory's family should be encouraged. It's time to set aside both blame and excuses and attend to the practicalities.
