And I mean to actually conceive, carry and deliver your own biological child.
What's your reason? Is it emotional? Biological? Spiritual?
Not passing judgement. Just want to know others' thoughts on the subject.
Logical and rational? That isn't why people have children. They want them because they are biological programed to procreate. In some people that drive is stronger than in others.
It is no more or less logical and rational than eating when you are hungry. We know rationally we will die if we don't eat, but that isn't WHY you feel hunger. Same with wanting to have children. We know rationally someone needs to continue the species, but as a biological entity, when we are safe, secure and stable (usually married) as an organism, that is the best time for out genes to reproduce themselves, so we feel the need to procreate.
But like eating, it is a biological drive, that can be modified by emotional and logical input. But like more natural traits, it will vary from individual to individual. The same was some people over eat, and other starve themselves.

That's a pretty good answer. But, self preservation (eating, breathing, sleeping, etc) directly impacts our own individual well-being. Having a child (or not) does not. And there are far more orphans than we can ever hope to adopt in this day and age.
So, my question stands. Give me a logical reason to procreate? If you believe there is no logical reason to procreate, then why continue to do it?

Absolute love. I'm not sure it has anything to do with logic, but with how the human body works. People want to have children, and if they are able, it is what they do.
My children are 18 and 20, and I cannot look back and even begin to imagine a life without them.
I submit that if you do not have a logical, rational reason for the decisions you make in your life, you might need to think a little harder about why it is that you do what you do.
So, why?
I have logical and rational reasons for many things, but none for getting pregnant or wanting a child. Of course, I am 69, so it could have been conditioning back in my day.

Spontaneous conception. Fascinating concept. So, have a child because... we really don't have much else going on right now? Because we're bored?
Hmm.
