Typically I'm very against snooping, but earlier tonight while doing laundry I found a make shift pipe in the laundry basket of my 15 year old daughter's room. She normally does laundry so I'm sure she thought it was a safe place.
It's a metal pipe (musical instrument mouth piece) that's been scraped mostly clean so I cannot tell what it was used for. Fearing the worst (in my book that's crack, meth, etc) I snooped around and found a whole tube of what I first thought were joints...but then found were filled with tea. I was skeptical but found a bag of tea (100% sure) and rolling papers as well. What the hell? I have no idea if she was smoking tea or something else out of the pipe.
I don't even know what to do with this. Pots legal here for adults - so do I treat it like finding alcohol or since it was tea, maybe fruit juice? Gah, advice?
Some people smoke herbal tea for the pseudo-high, and teens smoke tea because they can get their hands on it legally. She has a bunch at once, so she either smokes often or is selling/providing for friends. I'm sorry, Eazine.
Back in the 80's we would get angel dust that was sprayed on tea leaves.. I never smoked it but my cousins did..
Also there could be chemicals like synthetic cannibis (spice) or worse sprayed on the leaves.
In all my life I have never heard of anyone smoking just plain tea leaves, this definitely requires further investigation..
Yeah, this is not good news. Smoking tea is definitely a thing.
I would treat it as if it were pot because she is mimicking the actions of a pot-smoker. There is really only one reason you would do it: for a pseudo-high. I would go pretty hardcore on this.
But this ISN'T pot..it is tea and likely with some other unknown substance. Lots of stuff gets you high because it is toxic and poisonous...and it is cheap to make so there's a lot of profit in it. For that reason alone (regardless of whether it is a "proper drug") you have to talk to your daughter and find out what it is, or what she's been told that it is.
Then educate her and take away as many privileges as possible to get the point across.
