Someone mentioned in one of the other presents thread about making the gifts all from Santa. I have been trying to figure out how many of the presents should come from Santa this year. So, if you include Santa in your Christmas how many presents will be from him? Do you wrap them?

My husband asked me the other night and I told him that only 2-3 should be from Santa and they shouldn't be wrapped this year. He told me that when he was younger that 6-7 gifts came from Santa. I told him I thought that was to many. So, what's your magic number?

There is no magic number, and they were all wrapped and tagged.

One. The kids ask Santa for something specific usually. This year my daughter asked Santa for a specific littlest pet shop set and my son asked for a specific Lego set.

One year my son wanted the clapper from Santa. Boy did I have to run all over town to find one. They were sold out on Amazon. All that effort the thing never worked.

ETA I usually wrap it but I buy a secret roll of wrapping paper so it's different. I'm thinking of not doing that this year. My kids are 10 and almost 9. I feel like they need to learn the truth about Santa soon so I might start dropping some hints.

When I was a child, my siblings and I each received one gift total for Christmas and it was from Santa.

When my children were little they usually received one, sometimes two large gifts, from Santa, plus gifts from us. They were wrapped and tagged from Santa. My siblings did the same with their children (one or two large gifts from Santa).

But every family is different.

In my family, Santa came at night, so each child had one present on Christmas morning. In my husband's family Santa came about 6 PM on Christmas Eve and left several/many presents for each child. Deciding between Santa coming Christmas morning vs. on Christmas Eve was a much bigger decision for us once we had children than the number of gifts.

One large item from Santa, so I could remember which one it was. It was whatever she asked him for.

I think we'll do 1 from Santa and it's wrapped. Last year he asked Santa for 2 things and 1 was little so Santa through that in too. The thing he wants the most will be from Santa and anything else will be from us.

If I bought 15 gifts probably 5 or 6 would be from Santa. The Santa gifts were always something fun and most of the gifts from me were usually more practical or educational.

We carried on my family tradition growing up of opening gifts from family on Christmas Eve and gifts from Santa for the kids Christmas Day. My daughter had at least 5 from us to open Christmas Eve, one always being new pj's. She had 10-12 from Santa on Christmas Day. Now that she's 19, we open everything Christmas Eve.

ETA: Presents are always wrapped.

Only one gift, unwrapped and sort of hidden, was from Santa. Stockings had candy and a few small things like a card game or dollar store items. The Santa gift was generally the most expensive item.

Sometimes there would be a family gift from Santa in addition to the one gift per child. That was usually something my husband saw or found and really wanted-haha.
