It's next Thursday...is anyone planning on bringing their child(ren) to work? I usually don't because I don't want them to miss school, but I'm wondering if I should while they're still young enough to want to spend a day at work with me!
Only bring them in if your company have organize activities, which are done in group settings according to the children age. If, their idea of participating is just bringing them to work to sit at your desk--than don't. Children like the idea of competing in organize games and learning about the company. Let's just take into account that the day works best for children 9 - 13.
I remmeber many years ago (In the 70s) I went to work with my father one day (He worked @ a hardware store) and I gotta say it was quite an interesting day!
I sat around watching TV and I looked @ the cash register and then I was walking around the store and did something I shouldnt have done!! (OOPS)
I knocked a whole rack of rakes over!!!!! -- MAN IT WAS A LOUD CRASH WHEN THEY HIT!!!! (I didnt do it on purpose,I accidently bumped into it) -- I COVERED MY EARS BEFORE THEY HIT AS I KNEW IT WAS GONNA BE LOUD!
Worked for the Feds and can remember when it was "Bring your daughter to work day." The govt. didn't have any sort of activities for the kids, and so by 10am, they were bored out of their minds. Recall them sitting on the photocopier glass. You could say that this was an early version of "selfies."
This was a big thing for my husband and bringing our son up to work. Back then he worked for Union Carbide and they went all out having a tour bus go around the facility. Demonstrations set up. Really a fun time with science and experiments.
The kids enjoy getting off from school. I think it's neat they see where parents work, meet the people you talk to, talk about, see how you spend your time away from them. It'd probably give them some security in knowing just where you are during the day and not this vague notion of a place. It becomes concrete. Now they know when they call you at work, they can picture where you are.
Most people that work in a factory can't bring their kids in, its to dangerous at most companies.
I brought my son to work a few times..
I was a butcher and just wanted to see if some things bothered him- and no I didn't take him to the kill floor ... I gave him small jobs to do he seemed to like it
I remember my father doing this with me when I was young. He was an aerospace engineer and helped design satellites and launch vehicles. It was pretty amazing seeing them up close and getting a tiny piece of the gold foil they used. The rest of the day was helping him organize paperwork "for fun" and drawing while he actually worked.
I work at home. My kids are here all the time. My eldest son actually works for me sometimes too.
