I knew my state's law (CT) and think it's good, but could be better. My son will be in a booster past the age of 8 because he's 7 1/2 right now and only weighs 50 lbs! Really, kids should be boostered until the seatbelt fits them properly, which is when they're around 4'9". I don't know many 8 year olds who are that tall... so the law should be based on the child's size rather than the child's age.

It says that in NC

A driver may transport children without restraints if all other seating positions in the vehicle are occupied by other restrained passengers.


Wow - that's nuts!

Oh you'd be surprised how many of those there are out there.

I lived in Hawaii for 6 years. 3 of those I worked hard to get the child restraint laws changed. Finally... FINALLY... they got changed and went into effect just after we left.
