I've had the privilege of voting in many of his polls, all across C/D and I have to say the dude has a talent in generating unusual poll options. It's strengthening his resume by the day and by the poll
Since noone's voting I'm gonna go for a toss to decide.
I think parents have a hard time accepting their child is not the norm and their future may suffer. I mean suffer by not being treated fairly. Having to deal with nonsense for being different.
I think a lot of men feel uncomfortable when they have very feminine sons. I think females (the mother's) are more accepting of any situation.
I am a no vote... I have heard of some of those stereotypes...but personally, none apply to me. I would love and accept no matter what. As would my husband... I was raised in a pretty liberal/open minded family...
I thought the question was asking if my kid had a gay friend, what would bother me about the person. So I voted for girly behaviors. But I hate girly behaviors in girls too. And I was assuming by gay you were refering to males, since homosexual women are lesbian.
I'm reminded of my labor day hike with my kids. This obviusly gay man passed us by. His hips were swishing and his arms were doing that stupid thing gay men do with their arms. WOMEN DON'T WALK LIKE THAT! Other than that I have no problem with gay people.
I have no idea what other people hate about gay people because unlike you, I do not sit around talking about gay people. Cause from my point of view, I'm not lesbian, if you are G/L/B/T it's your problem not mine.
When my ex's uncle told his parents that he was gay, his mother wouldn't get out of bed for a week. He's her baby. To this day she is the most overprotective, smothering, "my son can do no wrong" kind of mother. For the longest time he had to live in London 5 hours away from her, just to get some peace. As to why she is like this, who knows?
As for me- When I was pregnant with my daughter, I actually said jokingly to the ex once, that if she turned out to be a lesbian truck driver instead of a pretty princess, I would be fine with that. As long as my kids grow up to be happy, and healthy, and of course NOT still living with me, I will be thrilled.
In addition, a lot of the stereotypes you are talking about, come from people trying to deny who they are. One example: Priests that end up molesting boys. They choose to throw themselves upon the mercy of the church, because they are too ashamed to admit who they really are. My name for them would be cowards.
