Danger lurks in Jonze adaptation of `Wild Things' - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091012/ap_en_mo/us_film_wild_things - broken link)

I'm sure if you are one who actually monitors what movies your kid sees, you will not let them see this one.
Just another movie condoning rebellion and portraying parents as the bad buys.....IMO.

I used to read this story to my kids when they were small. My daughter reads it to her three sons now. It's a cute story and the book had great illistrations.

The OP is the same kind of person who doesn't want children to read books like, "The Grapes of Wrath".

I hope that your children are able to distinguish a book from reality.

This book has been a source of delight for more than two generations of children and most parents and grandparents have read it so often that they have it memorized. If you don't want your own child to read the book or see the movie that is your choice. But I think you will find that the vast majority of parents already have experience with this story and find it a treasurered childhood memory.

Did you people see something in the OP that I didn't? I don't see the post saying anything about the book. Is it seriously out of the question that Hollywood would screw up a beloved childrens book?

This I think is the problem. There is really nothing in the book to make a movie out of. It is all up to the Hollywood director's imagination.

Kids have VERY LITTLE control over their lives, which is why stories featuring some sort of "rebellion" are so popular with them. Instead of fearing that it will usurp your authority you can just have fun with it and accept that your kids WILL rebel someday (they all do, and not because of a movie), and it's perfecly natural.

This was the first book I ever read, and still have the same copy 35 years later. If I had children, I would let them read it for sure. Wonderful book. Doesn't surprise me in the least that "dos lobos" has a problem with it.

Preventing your child from seeing a movie that you think is a skewered adaptation is not considered censorship. It's called parental prerogative, and you do whatever you want with your little monster.
