East side Erie isn't bad as long as you stay south of 38th street, but would agree the west side is better. Slightly south or west of Erie is even better which is getting into the part of Millcreek that boarders the south and west sides of the city. Still it is best to shop here in person and knock on the doors of the homes near the house you are looking at. Ask the neighbors if they like where they are at, and sometimes they can give you the scoop not only on the neighborhood and schools, but even things the seller may not disclose on the house you are looking at. Many homes here have water leaks in the basements and the sellers often seem to forget listing that in the disclosure.
