Hi, I live in Seattle and am planning on moving somewhere in Pennsylvania. I work for a Kroger owned grocery store here in Seattle. I am in the union and make pretty good money for a cashier. ($19). I’m not sure where to go in Pennsylvania, but wherever I go I want to transfer to another Kroger owned store that also has a union, so that I can keep my pay and seniority. Has anyone worked in any of the Kroger owned stores anywhere there? I’m just starting out and don’t plan on moving for a few years at least.

There are no Kroger-owned grocery stores that operate in PA.

The only Kroger-owned store in PA is a convenience store called Turkey Hill, which is predominantly in the Lancaster area but has also expanded to the rest of eastern PA.

There's a Turkey Hill store as far west as Somerset.

As far as Kroger, yeah, they don't exist here, bailed out of the market. Apparently there used to be Kroger stores in Pittsburgh, but that is well before my time here. From this area there are stores over the border in WV and OH, though looks like most of the OH ones are not very near us.

So if you really plan on moving to PA for some reason, you'll need to be relatively near a border. I only know about the WV/OH ones, dunno as much about MD/DE/NJ/NY and whether there would be any stores near those borders.

The overpaid union workers went on strike for more money and Krogers left. I hate unions.

I'm a native Seattle-ite currently living in Philly for grad school. I also worked for a brief time at a Safeway in Seattle. Genuardi's is the Safeway company grocery store in the Philadelphia area. ACME, ShopRite, and Genuardis are major grocery chains in the Philadelphia area.
