Should I sign the petition to appeal for unemployment?
I got fired from my job almost 2 months ago and applied for unemployment 2 weeks after, I got approved. I didn't get my unemployment check the first time I filed my biweekly claims, but I received the second time I filed. The same day I got it, I got something from unemployment in the mail. The first paper said Notice of Determination and it was talking about appeal and came with a petition in case I would want to appeal against my previous employee. It also said that my previous employee had up to 2 weeks to decide if they want to appeal my unemployment or not. I am very confused when it comes to this type of thing and would like to know what the petition they gave me was about and if or do I have to sign it? If I do sign it what would happen? I am also from Pennsylvania. Also i got fired because I got a customer complaint and I had a lot on my file, but they were all minor complaints and my boss only told me about like 5 of them and when they fired me, they tricked me into resigning and they said that I can get unemployment with it. When I applied for unemployment, I told them they tricked me. When I signed for resignation, the managers made me sign it on a loose leaf paper. It wasnt even a real resignation paper. They were very unprofessional there and always bullied the employees. I also heard that if the previous employer appeals you and they win, you have to pay back the benefits. Does anyone know if they do appeal me, I have a chance of winning? Im a nervous wreck and been very sad and depressed ever since I lost my job. I been searching everywhere for a job and no luck. I was running low on money so I had no choice but to apply for unemployment. I hope that this didn't bite me in the ass because I haven't had any luck lately

You would be better off contacting the unemployment people on this matter. They will explain the process, papers, etc. If nothing else, visit an attorney. Most of the people who post u/c questions on this board are better off contacting the u/c office, which will have better knowledge on the matter.

If you want to sign it sign it, if you don't want to don't sign it. You have to make your own decisions when it comes to things that affect ONLY YOU personally.

If what you are talking about is a notice of financial determination, it's part of what everybody gets. It tells you what your wages were, which will determine your unemployment rate and partial benefit rate. If it is a notice that your employer appealed, you'd better get moving. I would contact the u/c people with your questions.

The notice didn't exactly tell me that they already appealed it said they have til August 28th to appeal. Would it have mentioned if my previous employer appealed me or did this notice just tell me that they have a chance to appeal? Is it normal to get this notice? Lol sorry all this stuff is confusing I definetly have to call them tomorrow.
