It's really to hard to say. You might hit a snowstorm which locks everything up, you might have 50 degree weather. The roads might be nearly impassable (although if PennDot is given time they do a good job of clearing them) or they might be clear with no snow anywhere.

If you've never driven with chains that trip won't be a good time to learn. You'll be able to tell if you should stay put and postpone your trip.

Probably a little too soon for snow-not unheard of but not likely. If it does snow the roads and ground will still be warm enough to melt it.

Unless you go PA rte 6 (very scenic, but slow) you'll probably be driving mostly in NYS. Sayre is just south of the state line.

This time of year you may get wind and/or rain but check the wipers and wiper fluid before you leave and you should have a pleasant drive.

Sayre is right on I-86, and if you stick to the interstate, all should be well.

As for the driving conditions, I'm no fortune teller.

It is unusual to need chains in Pennsylvania. Conditions could range from perfect to horrific that early in the year.
