I am fairly new to this forum and would appreciate some advice. I got a job offer in State College but my other half works in NYC. We are considering to live somewhere in the middle, let's say Stroudsburg or Wilkes-Barre. But I couldn't find any bus that run between these places and State College. Does anyone know of any?

Any advice about where me and my other half may live and how we may commute (time, cost, etc.) would be very appreciated.

Even if you lived in the middle somewhere, you are talking about 2+ hours in either direction! That is a long haul everyday. I know the route fairly well, I went to PSU for my degree and worked there for 3 years. I am originally from Honesdale, so I made that trip a lot! There is a big bus station in State College, but as far as buses running that route daily, I doubt there are any.

Good luck,
Tina

I'm sorry, but it just can't be done.

This type of life event is what makes people finally decide if they are going to get married or not.

Don't pass up this employment opportunity for someone you merely refer to as "the other half."

What do you two do for a living? It may be possible to both locate similar work in NYC, State College, or at some point in between. I'll concur that commuting 2+ hours each way for each of you will mean very little in the way of "quality time" for you both, which may lead to a divorce/break-up with your partner. You may think you can both handle it, but when you both walk in the door at 8:30 PM every weeknight and tell the other "I'm too tired to do anything" for five nights per week, it's just not worth it. Alternately, is it possible for you to move nearer to State College and have your better half telecommute from home or vice-versa if you were to move nearer to NYC? It may be feasible if your better half can telecommute from home for three days a week and only need to hit up NYC perhaps on two days per week. In this sense, you could move nearer to State College for easier daily commutes for you while only inconveniencing your other half two days per week. It's something to consider.
