Hi, I am coming to Pittsburgh late on May 1st and spending 2-3 days there looking at homes in the Pitts area. What can I do at night to keep from looking at four walls in my hotel? (I am a 58 year old woman (they say I look about 45), single, like old rock music, dancing, books, antiques). Oh, I also like pro baseball. Then I will be on the road to Altoona for 3-4 days with the same problem, then onto Johnstown/Indiana area for 2 days, then back to Pitts for another day. Any advice what to see or do, where to eat, etc. What neighborhoods should I stay away from as I will be alone? Thanks for all your help. Looking forward to moving back to the friendly folks in PA.

You know Pittsburgh Rocks!

Here's the online city paper where you'll find lots of information on events:

http://www.inpgh.com/

Also, you might get a better response if you post this thread in the Pittsburgh forum instead of the Pennsylvania forum.

I cannot speak for the other areas, but there is plenty to do in Pittsburgh. Check out Shadyside (upscale shopping district), Squirrel Hill (diverse neighborhood w/ many cool shops, bookstores, restaurants), the Strip District (markets, nightlife), South Side (nightlife, music, shops), South Side Works (new entertainment district, movies, restaurants, etc...), the Waterfront (big entertainment area, outdoor mall), Oakland (university area), etc...

Other areas a little further outside of town but w/in a 15 minute drive include Mt. Lebanon and Oakmont.

Google a few of those and you should get some pretty decent information.

Hi,

I know I'm not there yet, but I've been getting e-mail from Pittsburgh Roars (www.pittsburghroars.com) that lists some events that sound really fun.
