Your least expensive way is to allow 1+ volunteers from this forum try to help you. Last resort such as emergency reasons, would be an investigator out of the yellow pages of your own phone book.
You have not mentioned the person's age, etc.
If any of the parties are deceased, locating their obituaries can lead to names and locations.
Don't post a social security number on the forum. I've read where s.s. numbers have been posted here in recent weeks and that is not accurate as far as I know.
However, their s.s. number would be shown on the s.s. death index, if they are deceased and they are shown on the death index.
So in the case of a deceased person, the s.s. number is public information.
As you are finding who you are looking for, try to prepare for how you might want to make contact. Your choices may include a phone call, where you may be a stranger to them, if step relatives are involved. Some cold calling of phone numbers from free sites can get mixed results.
Same thing for letters or e-mails. They can be replied to, or you may not get a reply.
My advice and the experiences of some of the people I have had a chance to help over the many months, is try to make sure you have the right person and the right address before you take action like a phone call or letter.
There is a genealogy forum and there are some good members who frequent there and on this forum too. You can post as much detail as you are comfortable with, or communicate with one or more members that you see here on the forum. Good luck.
