It usually works to keep pressing "0" as the menu is playing. If that doesn't work, press a one of the numbers itemized on the menu, and then start pressing "0". I tried googlling /bank america how speak operator/ and there are entire websites and discussion forums dedicated to this problem. Amazingly, people keep right on doing business with them.

An alternative strategy is keep saying "Operator" slowly and clearly into the voice recognition system. It will keep saying "your input is not understood", and finally maybe get to some default resolution. If you're really lucky, you might get a voice that says "It sounds like you want to speak to an operator. If that is correct, press 6-3-8-2 followed by the pound key twice".

Give us the 800 number you're calling, and we can all try it, and see if one of us lucks into it.

By the way, when I moved, I had a list of about 30 or 40 electrical service providers, which, of course, actually means 30 or 40 deregulated billing companies reselling power from the same grid. I went down the list, calling each number, and hanging up if I couldn't get a real person within 45 seconds. After about 5 or 6 of them, I got a real person, and contracted with that company.

LOL. I do not bank with them, but I work for a small bank which gives personnal service. I was trying to see if a check our customer deposited with us had cleared BOA yet.

I had the same thing happen as you did when we got a mortgage last year. We went with a small mortgage company, and prayed it wouldn't get sold to BOA....It got sold to Wells Fargo...not great, but at least not BOA.

That's easy : Dial the number and don't press any buttons. They will think you are on a rotary dial phone from the 60's and they WILL pick up !

I found this ...

From "dialahuman.com"
Bank of America 800‑432‑1000 Press 00 at each prompt

From "gethuman.com" (they had other numbers to use also)
Bank of America 800-432-1000 Say "Associate" (Average wait 2 mins)

I choose an option like buy something or open an account. Humans are available if they think they can make money off you.
