Bank of America continues to tack on fees to it's customers and will soon be BK. I came across this article today that said BOA will start charging $5 a month to use your debit card. Really? The only reason I even deal with this bank is that they have lots of branches and ATM around both states I visit and live. I am switching to a credit union because BOA is not looking out for their customers.
Can anyone else give a list of crazy fees BOA charges to access your OWN money?
Thats the thing...banks get you hooked into using their services for electronic transactions and such, that its a pain to change. So they nickel and dime you.
These threads need to be combined. until then...
The fee is NOT for getting cash from the BOA atm machine.
It's ONLY for buying stuff with it and then only for customers who don't maintain a minimum balance.
This past year it was the annual credit card fee BOA stuck many of us with. Now this coming year it will be the $5.00 fee for debit cards. That will obviously not be the end of it. The banks have become exactly like the airlines became. Sticking fee after fee until they bleed you dry. Many Americans feel there is nothing they can do but pay all these fees. I don't think so. I have 4 Direct Deposits a month going into BOA. If thats not enough business from me for them after all these years then screw them. I will either start writing checks again to avoid fees and if they charge for that, then I will find a new bank or method to do banking. I suggest all Americans start fighting back with the banks as well as all businesses that try to rape us.
I do believe that is a big part of the problems in this country. Americans are tolerating way to much and not fighting back.
It will never change unless we express our disgust with business practices. I let them know exactly why I am closing my accounts.
I also have a B of A credit card. They recently sent me a new card, with an opaque letter saying that due to a recent "security breach", they would be canceling my prior card/account. Of course, they refuse to tell me what/where the breech occurred. For example, if someone I made a purchase from was found have poor business practices/fraud etc... So I told them that if they value protecting (themselves? the 3rd party?) more then they value me as a customer, I will stop using their credit card and close my account.

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about Suntrust doing the same thing. It's the swipe fees...they are trying to recoup their income that they lost when the cap was put in place.
If you use a debit card on Amazon, Paypal, Ebay, or inside at a bank to withdraw cash or pay a credit card, does that county as a debit card purchase?
Anyone know?
