The percentage of American women showing up at hospitals across the country ready to give birth but without insurance has rised dramatically in the last three years. Of course the bill never gets paid, and/or some form of state assistance covers it.

Then there is the fact that the child cannot be raised without the child tax deduction and myriad of child credits (including the ones for daycare) and earned income tax credit.

Followed by years of schooling from first grade until their senior year of high school. Yeah, public schools - paid for with tax dollars. If people had to actually pay some kind of tuition to put their kids in school from K-12, well, not many of them would be going.

Including the 1 out of 4 families right now that are on some type of state assistance including food stamps, to feed the end results of what happens if you have sex without a condom. It's ridiculous.

And lets not forget sending the little xerox copies everyone makes of themselves to college. Most "students" (aka, grown adults that do not want to enter the real world and get a job) recieve financial aid, pell grants and loans subsidized by the federal government. Once again, taxpayer money.

And the list goes on. . . .

Americans obviously cannot afford to have children anymore.

Stop breeding folks.

What to afford? Money is no object the Federal Government has an app for that. Giving bread to the people helps develop a dependency and a political power base.

Seriously though, people that can and due pay there own way for the most part are choosing not to have children or much fewer than in the past. It seems to be what happens in affluent societies.

In society's interests communities should support and encourage families just not to the tune of assuming the responsiblity for their every need.

Is Americans stopp having children, who is going to take care of the older folks?

Who is going to provide for the older folks social security?

Seniors take up more of the Usa budget than children do.

So people should not have kids unless they can afford to pay for private school tuition?

i agree with some of your points (and the main point that many people who have children ought not to), but many of the costs associated with raising children would also be lower if the government wasnt subsidizing everything. college tuition is a great example. they jack it up because they can

43% of Slavemart employees children get their health care from the government while the WALTONS have more wealth than 93 million Americans combined. Perhaps if we raised the minimum wage to a liveable wage we would not have to subsidize the greed of the 1%

I've always thought that we at least shouldn't encourage poor people from having more kids, by giving them a raise every time they do.

If you raise minimum wage you raise the cost of goods and services produced by that wage.

Except the min wage won't keep up with the price increases.

Example: raise min wage to $20/hour and you'll pay $22 for that "big Mac meal"

Basic economics.
