I am interested in hearing from people who have a FICO score over 800. How did you do it?

We pay off credit cards in full each month, live within our means, and are debt free.

P.S. If you read The Millionaire Next Door and embrace it's concepts you will prosper.

Its stupid and pointless.

My score is low, (According to Equifax and Experian) because I don't have a mortgage.
I have paid off a car loan of 15,000,but no,it isn't enough.

Never carry a balance, never pay anything late, make more than you spend.

It's really not hard....

Easy.

1. Spend less than I earn.

2. Pay every credit card balance in full before due.

You don't need a mortgage to have a credit score over 800.

- Had a credit card since the age of 16 and paid it off in full 90% of the time (I'm almost 30 fyi)

- Currently have over 10 credit cards (almost all rewards cards) and I rarely carry a balance on any of them.

- Paid off my student loans.

- Never had any auto loans.

- I've not been perfect with paying on time but I've never been negligent either.

My credit score is in the low 800s as of a year ago (last time I checked.)
