My girlfriend is suggesting I buy her a $450 blender as a christmas gift (I know it is a bit far away) but I was like WHAT blender costs $450!! Apparently it is some special blender called Vitamix and great for juicing. Why is this so unique that it costs so much more than other juicers? And is it is a good financial decision to invest almost $500 on a blender that just juices, what is the benefit of spending so much money? I am not sold and think it is a waste of money when you can just buy a juicer for $50 or $60, extra money can be used for something more important.

My first Vitamixer lasted for 10 years, came with a 7 year warranty and needed on part replaced which they sent us during those 7 years. I bought a 2nd one 3 or 4 years ago after trying another cheaper brand which supposedly had the same amps or something like that and it wouldn't do squat. I use mine almost everyday. My brother wanted one of the cheaper ones on HSN so I purchased that, it died in two weeks, returned that and got the Vitamixer and he has had his for a couple years with no problem and uses it all the time. I paid $550.00 for the last one. We make a lot of smoothies and some raw food things for which there is no replacement. So, you could get her the $50.00 one and replace it every couple of months but more often if she has a heavy duty use for it. The Vitamixer is often discussed in the Food area of the forum. None compares. I am one of the most frugal people alive!

It doesn't just juice. I need one to prepare foods for my husband who has cancer. He is currently only able to take in liquid by a feeding tube. We are hoping to get a Vitamix or Blendtec to prepare him regular food he can take in through his tube and eventually by mouth.

I have had a $75 blender for over 15 years...
no way I would spend that kind of money for a blender as much as I use one.

Tough call. The Vita Mix is like a Mercedes, Humvee of blenders. If you want to do health juicing the Vita Mix is really the way to go...a regular blender won't do kale-cucumber-apple juice...

The beast will last forever...but, I think a Blen-tec is fine, for less money...here is a comparison...

I am considering the Vita Mix or Blentec, but, just can't wrap my head around the cost...

Most Comprehensive Vitamix vs Blendtec blender comparison review

Buy it. You wanna get laid don't you?

Besides, she'll have no excuse for not making you a smoothie whenever you want one.

I spent $400 on my Bosch Universal Kitchen Machine, but it does EVERYTHING very well and has been doing so daily for nearly 40 yrs (I bought it 'used' from a commercial baker.)

YES! I've always wanted one. I don't believe in throwing away perfectly functional appliances but I promise you my next blender will be of this quality. EVERY single individual I've known to have purchased one is happy with their investment.
