You asked. However, the point about the state date is important. That's probably the only operational aspect of this: Banks will reject checks that are old, according to the date indicated on the check and their own policies.

It should be noted that the legacy requirement had the text amount prevailing over the numeric amount. If there was any legality behind the prior primacy that has not changed, as far as I have heard. In practice, today - with regard to date, payee, amount, signature, and restrictive endorsement - it's probably "whatever" goes, until someone raises a concern, and then things revert back to the legacy requirements.

I have accepted post dated checks and have no problem holding them.

I would rather hold a post dated check than have someone say...........'"can I pay you in 2 weeks"..... and I have to chase them down to get paid.

My personal and anecdotal experiences are that the bank doesn't look at the date at all.
