That offer sounds good.

But we have a Chase Freedom Card and do not use it because the rotating categories are a nuisance. Our Dining bill is rewarded by Cap One Savor, and our Groceries and Gasoline are rewarded by BoA Visa. Everything else is sort of small potatoes.

i use the freedom unlimited for general spend. i also am not interested in paying attention to the rotating categories for the limited extra points it would net me.

i do want to get some sign up bonuses but at this point they are usually too small for me to care much and i have become so comfortable getting ultimate rewards points that i dont want to deal with another card issuers point system. im thinking maybe marriott or an amex card that i can just transfer points to marriott and drop it. i dont know.

I use the CitiBank Card for general spend -- 2% cash at the end of the year generally pays for Christmas.

I don't find the points to be of interest to us. Just give me the Cash Back.

I agree with this completely. They can keep the points, I'm interested in Cash Back.

with chase sapphire redeem we redeem our points for 1.50x the points we have to get statement credits .

that is on top of say the 5% categories on other cards that we transfer

huh. I like the steady $10/month off my utilities and internet and streaming, I just pick the same categories 4 times a year. They send a reminder.

But I got the freedom card for the -0- interest. It looked like at that time I would need to carry a small balance for a time. The bonus was just a bonus to that goal.

3% on gas stations and drugstores is new and improved.

Chase let’s you move points to the sapphire reserve from other chase cards .

So I get 5% on certain catagories on one card , up to 3% on another chase card and then I transfer all those points to my sapphire reserve card ..

Chase let’s you redeem those points at one and a half times their value as a rebate on your statement so that 5% on the chase freedom end up at 7.50%

is there regular freedom gone now in place of the flex? i just went to their site and i see the flex. its nice that you can choose the categories but 5% on $1,500 per quarter just doesnt move the needle at all for me. i presently have the chase ink preferred, chase ink unlimited, freedom unlimted and sapphire reserve for earning points. then they all get transferred to the sapphire reserve account for redemption.

They have the freedom unlimited too.

The link I put shows both to choose from. https://www.referyourchasecard.com/18f/ZKZBFFREBY

I got it when I thought I would carry a balance. 0% for 15 months. The bonus was just that, and the 1.5% instead of 1% on 'everything else' was alright.

Sometime I'll get a Citi card for 2% on 'everything else' but for now I use the 1.5% on the freedom unlimited, they also give 5% on Lyft rides and a free dashpass that I don't use.

Maybe keeping the card is for lower spenders, people not getting huge points.

As I said, I like the rotating categories for the 5% off my utilities and internet and streaming. $120/year for next to zero effort. I'm reminded to 'choose my categories' and I just click the box to keep the ones I have.

(Not a big spender).

It's also a super easy benchmark for the bonus

I see why it's not a 'keeper' card for you.
