Can I ask why you have a need to know what banks have branches in all 50 states? An alternative might be to find a bank/finance company that reinburses for mac/atm fees.

Etrade for example does this.

I would try to go with a local bank that gives you your money back when you're charged a fee with an out-of-network bank.
My bank has branches in AR and FL (I know...big geographical difference) and when I have to use an out-of-network ATM, they refund me the money the other bank charges (provided I bring the receipt with me).

Mine refunds the fee automatically at the end of the month.

Yeah I looked into a bank that did that. I didn't want to wait a month to get a refund.

Everybody has different requirements. I didn't want to have to do anything to get the refund.

Many credit unions are part of a shared branching system, where you can make deposits or cash checks or even make loan payments at about 6000 locations around the country.

Credit unions are the best! With shared branching you can not only use other credit union's ATM's, but you can use a 7-11 V-Com. You can withdraw and deposit at all of them. The only drawback is that if you deposit a check through a shared branch or ATM, it will take five days to clear. I found this out when I tried to deposit a check at a shared branch. So they're only good for taking money out, but still between the shared CU ATM network and 7-11's, you have thousands of ATM machines available to you.

Yes, that's the biggest negative with using a Co-Op ATM to make check deposits. Fortunately for me, my credit union allows me to have instant access to my funds not only at their own proprietary ATMs, but at any other credit union's ATMs as well. The last credit union I belonged to placed a 2-day hold on deposits at their own ATMs and a 5-day hold at Co-Op ATMs. I suppose if you never have to make ATM deposits and have direct deposit, using the credit union ATMs for surcharge free withdrawals at over 28,000 locations in the country is a pretty good deal.

Feel free to correct me, but aren't the biggest banks in Minnesota Wells Fargo and U.S. Bank? I know U.S. Bank is headquartered in St. Paul. I used to be a U.S. Bank customer but now belong to a credit union.
