If you are reading the Pets forum here I am likely preaching to the choir. But from time to time it bears reinforcement - PLEASE MICROCHIP YOUR PET! And please take every chance to educate you family, friends and co-workers of the importance of microchipping. As some of you know I volunteer at intake at an animal shelter and I see so many tragic stories that could be averted if someone had paid the very small fee for microchipping. If you can afford a pet you can afford microchipping! Give it as a Christmas present to your firends who have unmicrochipped pets...do whatever you can but PLEASE spread the word. MICROCHIPPING SAVES LIVES.
A friend of mine had her cat go missing for about three years once. She relocated to another state and just after she moved she was contacted by someone who had found her cat. It had been a stray and they decided to take it in and took it to a vet who discovered that the cat had a chip. Her family wqas overjoyed to have theri pet returned to them long after they had given up.
