My spouse and I and our two kids (ages 4.5 and 2) are relocating to the Philadelphia area from Minnesota. My spouse will be working in NE Philly so, after much online research, we focused our house hunt on the Abington and Lower Moreland school districts. We found a house that we really like, but the neighborhood doesn't seem as ideal as other neighborhoods we saw. The house is on a dead-end street called Peach Tree Drive, which is right across the street (to the south) from the Montefiore Cemetery. Basically, it's in the SE corner of Abington Township, very close to the borders with NE Philadelphia and Elkins Park. The address is Jenkintown, but it's in the Abington school district (McKinley Elementary). Is anyone familiar with this area? My spouse has only been in the area for two weeks and I just spent four days there house hunting. If anyone is familiar with this area and has any thoughts about it, I'd love to hear from you.
