Welcome!

Another delicacy you want to try since you like different type of food: If you go to South Philly, there are alot of Indonesian restaurants and cafes.
"Indonesia" is overrated since it caters mostly people with "everything-americanized" palates. Try "Sky Cafe".
I'm familiar with Sky Cafe! I think I've exhausted yelp and similar sites I've been meaning to go down and check out the many, many Indonesian restaurants in that area. I will make my choice Sky Cafe on your recommendation. Thank you!

Another one that is good (and too home-made for some people) is called Warung Surabaya.
BAsically they have a room with tables and kitchen. And sometimes, the mom will cook the food for you on premise.
It serves typical East Java food. Rumor said that they sometime put weed on their food in East Java. And for some odd reason anytime we went there, (me, parents and my friends), we always ended up sleepy after the dinner.
I know that is not probably it but it is a fun anecdotal fact.

If you mean the one by Cobbs Creek Park, near 69th Street? That's Upper Darby. Also, if you like Korean and Asian food in general you should check out Upper Darby and also Millbourne sometime.

Seriously, how awesome is that?
I love that, too. I love that the highest-rated news channel in Philadelphia isn't some pretentious, big city thing but instead one that is all about the people of the metro.

I love when it signs off for the night after the 11PM news, and you get that last melody after the lyrics stop, right before the late-night programming stops. It just comes across as very "powerful" to me.

I love that song, too. Ever since they played it 2-3 years ago during the fireworks, I've made a point to listen to it every 4th of July.

I lost my s***, jumping out of my seat yelling "That's Action News! That's ACTION NEWS!" Of course everyone else in the dorm thought I was nuts, but it was an unexpected slice of home.
Haha I'm the same way about anything local.

You should've seen me when the Silver Linings Playbook trailer came out haha

Agreed. I'm a big fan of all of the small and mid-sized PA cities.

9. Some areas in certain suburbs. That's where I like to go and walk around when I was feeling down. Reminds me utopian suburbs circa 80s-90s. Small streets. Old but well-maintained houses. Kids playing softball on the street and biking. Anytime I saw that scene, soundtrack of movies like "Forrest Gump", "Home Alone" or "Denis the Menace" played on the back of my head.
Agreed. I don't even live in the city but I hated Street. He was just unbelievably awful. I wish I could've voted for Mayor Nutter in both '08 and '12.

I hear you on that, too. For me it's moreso going to places like the Northeast because I see a lot of the stuff I grew up around.

As for what I personally love, well honestly I love everything about the city with the exception of some who hold power in the city. I especially hate the way that the state has so much power and control over the city. I definitely hate the SRC.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if over there was actually part of Philadelphia, but later I learned that it was for certain NOT. I did end up going out there for a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was so busy stuffing myself full of Korean food that I didn't even make it to the H-Mart...

Haha yeah, there's all kinds of ethnic restaurants in that area. It doesn't help that people who move to the city or visit it say things like "69th street is 'technically' Upper Darby" or "69th Street in West Philadelphia", etc when writing reviews on sites like yelp or even when writing guides to "the city". Usually it's when somebody is talking about the Tower Theatre or the 69th Street Terminal mostly. My personal favorite was a review of the Tower Theatre saying it was "in the most ghetto part of the city". I mean really?

Another thing I love about the city is that there's so much nature within the city limits, and not just the landscaped kind. Creeks, streams, and the two rivers are such a big part of the neighborhoods near them, as are the woods in parts of the city. There's not many other genuinely urban cities where you can get that.
