And the steaks are soooooooo powerful. Powerful enough that when I leave work today I am going back there for dinner LOL

They have to be in the same family as Pat's Steaks because it's the same style of steaks and the same type of wrapping. I have not tasted a steak this delicious since 2009 and I had no choice but to go back there for dinner.

I highly recommend this place which is on 16th and Chestnut

Doesn't everybody know about this place? I've only lived here for 2 months and I already know this. This isn't a shot at you or anything... more like a side note. Through these two months I've become quite shocked at how little Philadelphians know about their own city... the most knowledgeable people I've met about it are people who moved here recently.

It's hard to notice because it's off to the side and I just noticed the place today. I honestly believe there is a connection between Pats and Steve because the Steaks are too similar

Steve's is from the Northeast. It opened a new location in center city (where Krispy Kreme used to be) a couple of weeks ago. It's always high on "best cheesesteak" lists. I don't like cheesesteaks, so I can't say. I have never heard it being connected to Pat's and if they are good, I would doubt it.

I plan to ask them is there some relation because the places are way too similar. The only thing I wish they sold were onion rings because to me they go better with a steak than french fries. I can only eat french fries with fish, burgers, chicken, or shrimp.

You're right. Native Philadelphian's rarely venture out of their own neighborhood. Native suburbanites rarely venture to the city because they are afraid they are going to get robbed and shot... true story..

...and yes most people already know about Steve's... they have several locations throughout the metro but this is their first Center City location.

Steve's is a heralded Great Northeast tradition (going back 30-some-odd years) and IMO is much better than either Pat's or Geno's.

It's interesting you say that because growing up on the Main Line of all places, people went into Town all the time--the upscale areas for the most part of course--but there definitely wasn't a universal deathly fear of the city in its entirety. Maybe it's a matter of proximity? IIRC you grew up a bit further away from the urban core.

Well I happen to disagree. Maybe my taste buds are more sensitive than yours.
