Something to keep in mind, when you are looking into moving.I guess everywhere but this forum ,people count how many are being SHOT, not how many die.I`M not going to post all the recent shootings because the thread will get deleted. There are people getting shot everyday in this city, thank God they are surviving. Because they did not die, does not mean the city is safe.

I didn't realize that Memphis was over 500,000 in population.
You learn something new every day.

I don't see why the didn't just go ahead and show a straight ranking of 1-33 of the cities over 500K, since they showed 20 on the split list anyway. I guess because it's better headline bait to have "top 10" lists on your website?

It's crazy that DC still has one of the highest crime rates given it has become probably the most expensive city in the country.

Also a little shocked at Indianapolis. I thought the only reason people lived there was because it was a fairly large safe city.

Philadelphia, Camden, Reading, Trenton all listed as being among the worst. Why is our region so depraved?

I thought DC would be higher then Philly.
I was shocked LA and NY were on the safest big city list. I wonder if they are taking new steps in crime fighting.

I know everyone likes to pick on NYC & LA, but I'm pretty sure this happens in every city.
I remember the Philly PD got a lot of flak for underreporting crimes not too long ago.

Nice fine! I would love to see the follow up to this. I was reported last year.

Live in the right neighborhood and exercise street smarts. My part of the city is very safe for the most part. Crazy things occasionally happen, but you can't live your life in perpetual fear. And no, that isn't me being "complacent." Philly definitely has a crime problem that needs to be addressed. But in the meantime, I'm not going to be shaking in fear each time I step outside my apartment.
