And the crime rate, violent crime rate and murder rate has significantly improved so far this year. The city has 60 less murders this year so far compared to this time last year and is down something like 10% in violent crimes.

LOL! get a police scanner app. and give a listen. There is what you think and there is the truth. I`M shocked you haven`t tried to get this thread shut down, because it wasn`t put on your 3 person crime thread.

Or there are the actual facts. You know, the numbers that get reported to the FBI?

Crime Statistics | Philadelphia Police Department

111 murders so far this year, down from 171 this time last year. That is 60 less murders.

As of June 16th, Violent Crime is down 6% from last year. Total Property Offenses are down 9% and Overall Crime is down 8%.

Dude, there's enough crime in this city that even if the rate dropped by 50% you'd have plenty of activity on the police scanner. I'm sure if you listened to NYC's police scanners you'd be terrified to visit there as well, despite the fact that its one of the safest cities in the country.

Facts and statistics > anecdotes.

Thank you. I don't know why anyone but a police officer or a street racer (lol) would want to listen to a police scanner anyways. Are you THAT obsessed with crime?! Are you THAT fearful of life. Go out and enjoy your life and stop being afraid of the world. SERIOUSLY. It's just sad. If your sitting in your house listening to a police scanner then wow... just wow.

Also, this is something that can actually garner conversation, and can be it's own separate thread. You guys make a new thread for every single crime that happens, and it clutters the forum, and gets one or two posts at most and then falls into the abyss of pointless forgotten threads. It's just unnecessary when we have a crime thread that is made specifically to talk about and post on new crimes that happened in the city, and will get thousands of posts over time. Since this is about last years crime stats, and will garner more conversation, it makes sense to have it's own thread. The fact that you can't understand this is both laughable and very very sad.

I will say it over and over again. Ask a cop how things are going. Ask a fire paramedic ,if he or she has seen a drop in shooting and assault victims.

Violent crime is actually at it's lowest point in the country since 1963. Gun violence has been on a steady decline since 1993 as well.

I was only a youngin' in the late 1980's/early 1990's and even I understand how rife with murder and crime our cities were.
Maybe your friends that are cops/paramedics don't have many years on the job.
