I am setting up a free children's concert program as part of my senior project and it will be an introduction to classical music, featuring musicians from the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Curtis Institute of Music, the Drexel University String Orchestra and other classical organizations in the city.

It would take place in the fall and would be completely free for families. I did a lot of research about children's classical programs in the city and most of them are honestly too expensive for a lot of families in this city. I want every child to have the opportunity to learn about classical music, not just those whose parents can afford private school or music lessons.

If I had elementary aged children I would certainly be interested in it. Out of curiosity where are you going to obtain funding too conduct such a program?

Donations and grants, mostly. The musicians will be donating their time and donations from attendees would be wonderful but not expected. I'll be looking into venues that will perhaps donate their spaces and other arts organizations that will help out. I'm really not at the point in my life where I can afford to rent the space and pay the musicians to volunteer, but I really want to do something nice for the children of Philadelphia.
