And it's Philly.

Moderator's Note: Indeed it is! I've fixed it. ~ Tone509

trolley square and 40 acres have a reasonable amount of nightlife which a young international student might enjoy. chester does not. maybe philly is the right way to go

I also agree with Carlos. Don't even THINK about renting anything until you've seen it.
The Widener University is a relative oasis in the sea of despair that is Chester. The train station is not particularly close to the college area, either. Even if the Temple-bound student had a car, driving up and down Interstate 95 to get to school would not be a fun experience.

We prefer a place which is safe and quite. And we hope this place have some good apartments for rent. Could you guys give me some information?

Thanks!
I would recommend West Chester, PA.

Delaware and Philly are both accessible from there and it's a nice quaint college town.

I would, however, recommend renting a place on the other side of the town from the college. I had a great time living there for a couple of years. I lived at Seven Oaks Apartments. I worked just outside the city (Upper Darby), but went down to Delaware a few times as I had a sibling attending University of Delaware.

West Chester also offers some great shops and dining and it's also close enough to major roads for travel.

I hope that helps!

Be very careful where you rent in Chester though. Anywhere immediately around Widener isn't so bad. Think basically Providence Ave and I-95 up to 22nd Street as the "decent" parts of Chester. But be warned, these neighborhoods are decent only by Chester standards and would scare off the lilly white suburban crowd in a heartbeat. I've lived in the Sun Hill neighborhood the past year, and while it isn't horrible, it sure isn't a great place either. The houses are mostly old and unkept, there's a large welfare population, and the occasional robbery, shooting, and police raid keep things interesting. If you can afford it, I'd definitely go for the nicer towns in Delaware County and skip over Chester altogether.

Will you have a car? Or two? That makes such a huge difference! There is not good transportation between Newark, DE, and Philadelphia, PA, except by SEPTA regional rail. And it is not great.

The UofD provides this info: FAQ - Transportation Services - University of Delaware. Maybe there is something similar on the Temple website.

If you don't have a car, the best idea may be to live near one campus. And only one of you puts up with the long commute. If you'll be here for more than a year, you could do it in Newark one year and Philadelphia the next. Newark will be cheaper; Philadelphia will probably be more fun.

Try Claymont, Delaware or Marcus Hook, PA. Both are relatively safe and probably affordable
