I am moving to Chestnut Hill in June. I am baffled by the whole school situation there. In NJ, you go to the public school in the town where you live. Here, not so much, LOL. Anyhow, I have a 12 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. Their school would be Jenks. Please give me any thoughts. Thank you!!!!

I am not a parent haven't done any serious research on it. I live nearby in Mt. Airy. My impression is that Jenks, although better regarding that some, is very much a city school with students who generally come from low income families. It has a 3/10 rating on greatschools which is much lower than most of the suburban schools nearby. Private schools tend to be a popular option.

OP is probably talking about how most Chestnut Hill families do NOT send their kids to school at Jenks (even though it is one of the better public schools in the city), and most of the students at Jenks are from outside the neighborhood?

You are moving from a suburb to a city, so yeah, schools work differently. Generally, they are bad throughout the City of Philadelphia, of which Chestnut Hill is a part. Even though it's in a very nice neighborhood, most of the kids going there aren't from that neighborhood. Most people in Chestnut Hill send their kids to private school (or move into the suburbs before they are school age). There are a very good private schools in the area, at different price points.
