The option to buy a "Foot Long Hoagie or Cheese Steaks"?

There are two places in this city where you can get a Giant Size Hoagie but they are nowhere Center City. This would be great for Tourists who catch the Mega or Greyhound Bus and shopping in Center City Philadelphia. It's a shame these two great places are located in Kensington and North Philly. Why wouldn't downtown Philadelphia which is the major part of the city have this option for tourists? Right now it's nothing that stands out in center city when a tourist comes to town for the first time. I am surprised they don't see Giant size or footlong hoagies in Reading Terminal since it's right next to the area where the Tour bus leaves from on 12th and Arch.

There's a basic problem with this. Cutting it. I've stood by while thousands of hoagies were being made. If they're cut, it's standard sizes. What you're talking about is custom cutting which slows down the process. You can't just hand the uncut hoagie to George & Martha who are standing there with their 3 kids ranging from 3 to 12 & expect Martha to pull a bread knife out of her purse to cut it, or George to pull out his pocket knife. You have to cut it for them. Do you want to deal with the kids deciding how much they want?

The hoagie would be cut behind the counter by the staff so that the family can separate once they get to the table.

You missed my point. Selling giant hoagies opens it up to custom cutting, even if it's behind the counter. Years ago you used to be able to buy huge hoagies in lots of places. I remember seeing families debating how they wanted them cut. It's easier & faster to just deal with standard sizes.

But for a tourist it would be something to talk about once they arrived back home. "We had this foot long hoagie in philly which was something I never seen before". Now of course to the people who live here would prefer the smaller size hoagie because it's easier to cut. The tourist experience would be something different and new which is why the option should be in center city instead of Kensington.

Giant hoagies are generally at least 2 feet long. Get out a ruler. Look at it. Think about the usual size of hoagies.

It's sad that nothing stands out in center city to a tourist which is why the giant hoagie would be a nice option. I asked one of my friends what stands out in center city and she couldn't think of one thing.

I'm telling you, you used to see the giant hoagies all over the place. I've seen the families having the how much do you want debate. Time is money. There's a reason that most places only do giant hoagies for parties.

The liberty bell & Independence Hall don't stand out to you?

Dilworth Plaza stands out a little more than Independence Hall.

The tourists come to see Independence Hall.

I've seen tourists standing on the street looking at pretzel vendors. The occasional winter tourist can be awestruck by watching them roasting chestnuts. Pay attention to the tourists.
