I think this has been talked about in other threads to start, so I figure I would take the liberty and begin it.

Basically, this is a thread dedicated to anything related to Philadelphia restaurants or the Philadelphia food scene in general.

With that.. it seems that dining is definitely returning back to normal.

I am curious though if the city will adopt the same timeline as the state. Pennsylvania announced all restrictions will be lifted sans mask wearing on May 31st. I really hope it does...

I like the idea.

Anyone try any of the 'best' new pizza places according to the inquirer: https://www.inquirer.com/philly-tips...-20210501.html

I have had Pizza Gut before, they make good Detroit style pizza if you are looking for that.

A bar in Mt. Airy (the commodore) started selling Pizza Gut pizzas and I think they are quite good. Not always what I am in the mood for but really sometimes they really hit the spot. The Commodore also makes their own hand tossed pies which are also very good. This has been a godsend as almost all of the Pizza in Mt. Airy is garbage.

Pizza Jawn in Manayunk is fantastic though I find the ordering procedure annoying. I wish more places would use the cupped pepperoni.

I haven't tried the rest though Pizzata Pizza is next on the list as I pass by frequently.

I love the cup pepperoni too. Another pizza place I like that has cupped pepperoni is Chick's on Washington Ave. I actually forgot, I ate a Stromboli from Pizzata Pizza like a month or so ago. It was very good. I would like to try the actual pizza though.

Another place called Angelo's in Philly? Assume not related to the one at 9th and Fitzwater, which is my favorite within the city.

I believe it is the same one in the Inquirer article.

TBH I am shocked Philadelphia has no $1 pizza slice joints. NYC and specifically Manhattan has them everywhere.... And most of it is pretty solid pizza.

Tacconelli's is still king of the thin crust, brick-oven style in my book.

Yes, the cupped pepperoni is awesome, but I won't eat at a place with 'jawn' in it's name. I hate the word and I hate it being associated with Philadelphia.

Santucci's ranks, too. Best sausage I ever had on a pizza.

No argument about tacconellis. It is exactly what I want pizza to taste like. A bit of a hike for me. Are they doing dine in?

I keep meaning to try Santuccis. They are sauce on top right? I liked the style at Stogie Joes on East passyunk.

Santuccis > Stogie Joes. I am a big fan of Santucci's.
