Hi,

My daughter is September 4th born and we were looking for Kindergarten at Chester county public school.

We came to know that birth cut-off dates for public school is September 1st so we cannot admit her to public school.

Since she is 2 days late, we don't want to wait for another year to get her admitted to public school.

Can anyone please provide any suggestions or options that may help us.

Thanks

Depends on which school district in Chester County. You will have to call them and see if they will make an exception. A big factor is how crowded is the incoming kindergarten class. My guess is if they are already over crowded they will not make an exception.

However, you could also check out private schools and even some early learning centers offer kindergarten. Goddard schools have a good reputation.

Right now, schools in Pennsylvania are not required to provide kindergarten. But, the governor wants all-day kindergarten. I don't know the specifics but here is a link to the PA dept of education.

Thanks Christina, for all the help and details.

I had word with Goddard and they take the kids with late birth date. They told me that Kids going to private school (like Goddard) are eligible to transfer to Public school from 1st Grade. I am not sure if this is correct.

I spoke to public school and they said such kids can transfer in 2nd Grade. So not sure is there any rules/regulation for public school for transferring in1st/2nd grade for such late born kids.
