My husbands job is taking us to the Philly area and I'm at a total loss. I haven't been to the area in 20 years and have no idea where to even start looking for a place to live. His base salary is only 65K so I have no idea what type of rental we could get. I'm thinking of the NJ area because I homeschool one child and you don't have to jump through so many hoops in NJ to practice that freedom. I just want a nice, safe community that offers activities for the kids like a nice rec. center or health club, good libraries, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions?
With much appreciation,
Mich

If home schooling is the reason to live in New Jersey, you may want to re-think PA. We have many homeschoolers in my area and it's not uncommon for a few to participate in activities in the schools like music lessons or the High School theater productions. Many parents will homeschool one child and send another to the public or do homeschooling for Middle School only. It seems that homeschooling is very flexible. I live outside of the Philadelphia area, in the Lehigh Valley, but it was the same when we lived in Delaware County several years ago.
